Dr. Astrid Ruth von Walter, M.D., F.A.C.O.G

Dr. Astrid Ruth von Walter received her medical degree in 2008 from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. Then completed her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center. She also completed a two-year fellowship in minimally invasive gynecological surgery at The George Washington University Hospital in 2014.

Dr. von Walter is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has been published in the prestigious Green Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology as well as in the biweekly publication for continuing medical education, Postgraduate Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. von Walter has special interests in Lifestyle Medicine and Menopausal Medicine. She is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and is passionate about helping patients implement lifestyle changes that will promote lifelong health and wellness. Dr. von Walter also has an interest in routine and complex benign gynecologic disorders and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery including DaVinci™ robotic-assisted laparoscopic procedures, and office procedures such diagnostic and therapeutic hysteroscopy.

Dr. von Walter is fluent in Spanish. When not at work, Dr. von Walter enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, spending time in nature, being active at her church, and playing the piano, guitar, and violin.

Dr. von Walter will be starting at Virginia Women’s Health on Monday, October 2nd. She will be contributing on a part-time basis, dedicating two days each week to patient care and engaging in surgical procedures once a month.
