Mary Jo Frickel, FNP-BC

Mary Jo Frickel is a Family Nurse Practitioner who has been with Virginia Women’s Health Associates for many years, practicing both remotely and in office. She works on a PRN schedule at our clinic.

Mary received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Nursing from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and went on to complete the Post-Master’s Nurse Practitioner Program in Family Practice at The George Washington University School of Health Sciences in Washington, DC.

Mary is nationally board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the America Nurses Credentialing Center. Mary Jo is married and has five children and 11 grandchildren.


Margaret King, WHNP-BC

Margaret King, WHNP-BC.

Margaret has worked in Women’s Health for over 36 years. She began her career as a labor and delivery nurse back in 1983 and became a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner in 1994.

Margaret received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Hawaii and her Master of Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia’s Department of Nursing. She is certified as a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner by The National Certification Corporation

The care of women has been a passion for many years. She wants to continue that care at Virginia Women’s Health Associates. She will be working on a PRN schedule at our clinic.

Margaret is married with children and grandchildren. She loves quilting and machine embroidery, hosting family get togethers, and participating in activities at her church.


Pamela Barstow, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Pamela Barstow, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC.

Pamela Barstow, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and an adjunct instructor for the Graduate School of Nursing at Purdue Global. She earned her Masters of Science in Nursing from Walden University, as well as her family nurse practitioner certification in 2015. In 2022, she obtained a Doctorate in Nursing Practice, also from Walden University. She has a diverse clinical background, including labor and delivery, high-risk inpatient obstetrics, adult primary care, gynecology, pediatrics, and lactation. While she enjoys caring for patients across the lifespan, she has a special affinity for teenagers and young adults with menstrual and family planning concerns. She takes pride in getting to know her patients and strives to provide individualized care. As a military spouse, she is also sensitive to the needs of military families. Although she was born and raised in Colorado, she is proud to call Virginia her home. In her free time, she enjoys watching baseball with her husband and attending Washington Nationals’ games every chance she gets. Additionally, she is an avid supporter of pet adoption and currently has two dogs and two cats.
